Virtual Homestay Experiences

Global Immersions Homestay offers both individual and group Virtual Homestay Experience programs. A group program is customized to meet the needs and learning goals of each client. Our individual programs allow the participant to choose how many sessions per week/per month. All participants must be a minimum of 12 years old, with Advanced Beginner English skills, and no maximum age to participate in the Virtual Homestay Experience programs.

The Virtual Homestay Experience offers virtual sessions with an American host in their home. This program connects individuals to a host family, so they can experience daily life in the US virtually while practicing English authentically in and through a relationship with a host family in the U.S.A.

The Classroom Virtual Homestay Experience programs include:

Customized program to supplement English learning in the classroom
Choice of dates, one or two sessions, and learning goals based on curriculum
Interactive session with an American host in their home
Interactive session with Global Immersions team to learn about U.S. culture
60 minutes per virtual session
Online free communication platform used for each session
Conversation starters and activities designed by Global Immersions Homestay for host and participants
Support and facilitation from Global Immersions team throughout program
Minimum of one session and ten participants required; maximum of forty participants
Fees vary based on program design

The Group Virtual Homestay Experience programs include:

Customized program including dates, number of sessions, and learning goals
One-on-one session with an American host
60 minutes per virtual session
Online free communication platform used for each session
Conversation starters and activities designed by Global Immersions Homestay for host and participant
Support from Global Immersions team throughout program
Minimum of one session per program and five participants required; maximum of two sessions and twenty participants
Fees vary based on program design
Program availability based on host availability

A Virtual Homestay Orientation can be added on to any group Virtual Homestay Experience program. The one-hour orientation will include how to best use the online platform, address fears of speaking in English with the host, what to expect during the virtual program, how to best effectively communicate, review of themes and activities for participants to prepare prior to the program, etc. The Virtual Homestay Orientation is facilitated in English by Global Immersions team and if requested, can be given in English/Japanese.

Global Immersions Homestay welcomes all international visitors to the Virtual Homestay Experience programs. Requirements include a minimum age of 12 years with Advanced Beginner English skills and no maximum age. Intermediate to Advanced levels are encouraged for a more in-depth virtual homestay experience.
